你好　黑暗　我的老朋友

I've come to talk with you again

Because a vision softly creeping

因為有一種幻覺正悄悄地向我襲來

Left its seed while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted

Still remains

Within the sound of silence

伴隨著寂靜的聲音

In restless dreams I walk alone

在不安的夢幻中我獨自行走

Narrow streets of cobble stone

狹窄的鵝卵石街道

Neath the halo of a street lamp

在路燈的光環(huán)照耀下

I turned my collar to the cold and damp

我豎起衣領(lǐng)御嚴(yán)寒和潮濕

When my eyes were stabbed

一道耀眼的霓虹燈光

By the flash of neon light

刺入我的眼睛

That split the night

它劃破夜空

And touched the sound of silence

觸摸著寂靜的聲音

And in the naked light I saw

在炫目的燈光下

Ten thousand people maybe more 

我看見成千上萬的人

People talking without speaking

人們說而不言

People hearing without listening

聽而不聞

People writing songs that voices never share

人們創(chuàng)造歌曲去唱不出聲來

And no one dare

沒有人敢

Disturbed the sound o silence

打擾這寂靜的聲音

fools said I you do not know 

我說：“傻瓜，難道你不知道

Silence like a cancer grows

寂靜如同頑疾滋長”

Hear my words that I might teach you

聽我對你說的有益的話

Take my arms that I might reach you

拉住我伸給你的手

But my words like silent raindrops fell

但是我的話猶如雨滴飄落

And echoed in the wells of silence

在寂靜的水井中回響

And the people bowed and prayed

人們向自己創(chuàng)造的霓虹之神

To the neon god they made

鞠躬　祈禱

And the sign flash out its warning

神光中閃射出告誡的語句

In the words that it was forming 

在字里行間指明它告訴人們

And the sign said the words of the prophet

預(yù)言者的話

Was written on the subway 

都已寫在地鐵的墻上和房屋

wall and tenement halls

的大廳里

And whispered in the sound of silence 

在寂靜的聲音里低語
