A Story of a White Cloud and Me

I just want to tell a story of a white cloud and me.

A white cloud floated to me, at least I thought so.

It brought itself low and was acquainted with me seemingly occasionally but necessarily indeed.

It came so near to me that I even sensed its breath. It brought comfort, friendship and kindness to me. In one word, love.

I was buried into the beautiful taste.

This feeling urged me to share what I thought and what I did with the white cloud. And so I did.

I tasted the sweetness of the intimacy with the white cloud. And a new journey of faith was triggered by it.

I desired to catch it by hand, forgetting it was a cloud, which floated here and there. If you want to catch hold of a cloud, you will hurt it. You will make it melt into water and it will lose itself. When a cloud melts, it will lose its whiteness, softness, gentleness, and dreamy vision.

The moment I came to realize it, I was overwhelmed with sweats and guilt.

Yes, a cloud is a cloud. Let it float and it will come to you but catch it, you will lose it and it will lose itself. Just like a handful of sands, you hold them tight, more will leak out your hand while you hold it loose, more will stay in your hand.

So in the philosophy of Buddha, it advocates a principle: Anata,the belief that since all things are constantly changing, there can be no such thing as a permanent, unchanging self. But the better principle is: Love each other just as I have love you. No one has greater love than to give up one’s life for one's friend. That means, do not catch the white cloud that floats to you, but make sacrifice to it. Let the white whiter, let the innocent more innocent and let the pure purer.

Let a cloud be a cloud and let you be you: Carry each other’s burdens and so you will fulfill the law of He.

Thus, both the white cloud and me came to realize the power and importance of tolerance. And thus, we can mutually encourage each other while I am with you. We can be encouraged by the faithfulness we find in each other, both your faithfulness and mine.
