The dog ate the cat. （現(xiàn)代英語）
在古英語中有四種寫法，主要是順序變化：
1. Dog+(主語詞尾)ate cat+(賓語詞尾).
2. Cat+(賓語詞尾)ate dog+(主語詞尾).
3. Ate dog+(主語詞尾)cat+(賓語詞尾).
4. Cat+(賓語詞尾)dog+(主語詞尾) ate.
所以，下面這句話在現(xiàn)代英語中是錯誤的，但在古英語中完全正確：
1. dog cat towards ran quickly brownblack.（The brown dog ran quickly towards the black cat.那只棕色的狗飛快地向黑貓跑去。）
