應(yīng)“李小凡”，“Janet”等微信網(wǎng)友的要求，講講“租房”的相關(guān)英文說法。
在國外想租房，就要留意房子，報紙或網(wǎng)站上貼著“To lease”,或 “To let”的廣告，然后給中介或房東打電話，中介是leasing agent, 房東是landlord. “Do you have any apartments for rent now?” “Do you have any apartment available now?”請問有公寓要出租嗎？
如果合租的人不多，沒必要租house, 租apartment或flat就可以，也相對便宜，包括one-bedroom 或two-bedroom apartment, 還有一種叫studio, 工作室，就是客廳，廚房和臥室連在一起的開放式公寓， I’d like to rent a studio or a one-bed room apartment 一個人租房子，這句話最常用。
問房子多大，How big is that apartment? How many square meters is that studio? 如果你在意房子的視野，也可以問Does it have a view? View就是景色的意思，Does it have a sea view?這房子能看到海景嗎？ Does the bedroom receive much sunlight?臥室采光好不好呢？
家具是furniture, 配備家具的叫furnished, 通常是desk, bed, closet，sofa這些桌，椅，柜子，沙發(fā)等，Is this studio furnished? 公寓配有家具嗎？
租約是lease, How long the lease is gonna be? 租期多久？Do I have to sign for a one-year term? 我一定要簽約一年嗎? I live on campus now but I will move to a studio off campus next month, 我現(xiàn)在住校，下個月搬出來住。
Rent當(dāng)動詞講是租，當(dāng)名詞講叫租金，押金叫cleaning deposit或security deposit, How much is it per month? And how much is the deposit? 租金一個月多少錢？押金又是多少？
其他費用，比如水電煤氣物業(yè)取暖之類，統(tǒng)稱utilities,是不包括在租金里的，取暖費叫heating fee, 物業(yè)費是property management fee, 有線電視費是cable TV service, 網(wǎng)費是internet connection service fee, 為了搞清楚房租是否包含這些費用，可以問Are utilities included? 包含水電費嗎？I also need cable, internet connection service, what number do you think I should call?
