《睡美人》Sleeping Beauty有個國王生下了一個非常漂亮的女兒。國王很高興，舉行一個大型宴會。他的王國里一共有13個仙女，而他只有12個金盤子，所以他只邀請了12個仙女。沒被要邀請的仙女很生氣，詛咒國王的女兒在15歲時會被紡錘弄傷后死去?？墒堑?2個仙女祝福說公主不會死去，只是昏睡100年。在公主十五歲的那一天，看到一個老婦坐在紡紗，公主很好奇，上前拿起紡錘，但她剛一碰到它，立即就倒在地上失去了知覺。100年后，一位王子穿過了荊棘來到公主面前，禁不住俯下身吻了公主。就這一吻，公主一下子蘇醒過來，她張開雙眼，微笑著充滿深情地注視著王子，一起走出了宮樓。
Sleeping Beauty Part 2
As time went by, the baby princess grew into a lovely girl. All the gifts that the good fairies had promised were hers.
隨著時間流逝，公主已經(jīng)從嬰兒長成了可愛的少女，仙女們送上的祝福都一一實現(xiàn)了。
She had a beautiful face and she thought beautiful thoughts. She danced like a fairy and she sang like a nightingale. She was happy, kind and loving, so that all who knew her loved her.
她有美麗的臉龐，高尚的思想；有仙子一樣的舞姿，夜鶯一樣的歌喉；她很快樂，心地善良又有愛心。每個認(rèn)識她的人都很喜歡她。
The king and queen loved their daughter greatly.
國王和王后都非常愛他們的女兒。
Now it happened that on the very day when the princess was fifteen years old, the king and queen were not at home.
就在公主十五歲生日的這一天，國王王后都不在家。
To amuse herself, the girl wandered all over the palace. She opened the doors of dozens of rooms that she had never seen before.
公主在走遍了皇宮，想要找點事情做。她打開了幾扇房間的門，這幾扇門她從來沒見過。
At last she came to an old tower. She climbed up the narrow, winding staircase and found a little door at the top. She turned the rusty key in the lock and the door opened.
最后她到了一座古老的塔上。她爬上狹窄蜿蜒的樓梯，在頂端發(fā)現(xiàn)了一扇小門。公主轉(zhuǎn)動了鑰匙孔里生銹的鑰匙，門開了。
There, in a little room, sat an old woman at her spinning wheel busily spinning flax.
在小房間里，一位老婦人坐在紡織機(jī)旁織著亞麻布。
“Good day, good dame,” said the princess. “What are you doing?”
“你好，女士，”公主說，“你在干什么？”
“I am spinning, my child,” replied the old woman.
“我在紡織啊，孩子，”老婦回答說。
“Oh, how wonderful!” cried the princess. “Please let me try.”
“真奇妙??！”公主呼喊著，“讓我也試試吧?！?br>
No sooner had the princess touched the spindle than the fairy’s wicked words came true. She pricked her finger.
公主一碰到紡錘，仙女的詛咒就應(yīng)驗了，她扎破了自己的手指。
As soon as she felt the prick of the spindle the princess fell upon the bed in a deep sleep.
公主剛感覺到自己的手指被扎破，她就倒在床上睡了過去。
The old woman fell asleep in her chair. And every other living creature within the palace also fell asleep.
老婦人也在椅子上睡著了，皇宮里其他所有活著的生物也都睡著了。
At that very moment, the kind and queen returned home for their daughter’s birthday. They fell asleep in the great hall of the palace. The lords and ladies who were with them fell asleep nearby.
就在這時，國王和王后回來給他們的女兒過生日。他們在皇宮的大廳睡著了，一同前來的親王和女士們也在他們身邊入睡了。
In the stables, the horses fell asleep. In the courtyard, the dogs stopped barking and fell asleep. On the roof, the pigeons stopped cooing and fell asleep. On the palace walls, the flies stopped crawling and fell asleep.
馬廄的馬睡著了。庭院里的狗停止了吠叫，睡著了。屋頂上的鴿子不再咕咕叫，也睡著了。在皇宮的墻上，蒼蠅也不再到處爬，睡著了。
In the kitchen, the fire died out and the meat stopped cooking. The cook fell asleep and so did the scullery boy.
廚房里的火熄滅了，肉不再被烹飪。廚師和小工都睡著了。
The whole palace became silent. Not a living creature moved. The wind dropped and, on the trees in the palace garden, not a leaf stirred.
整個皇宮安靜了下來，沒有活物在動了。一陣風(fēng)吹過，皇宮花園里的樹葉一動也不動。
A hedge of thorns sprang up around the palace and its gardens. Every year, the hedge grew higher and higher and thicker and thicker. At last it grew so tall that it almost hid the palace. Only the topmost towers could be seen above it.
荊棘藤沖進(jìn)了皇宮和花園。荊棘年復(fù)一年地長高長大，最后幾乎把皇宮都掩蓋了，只有最頂端的塔尖還能看得到。
The story of the beautiful princess who lay asleep spread throughout the kingdom and far beyond. She became known as Sleeping Beauty.
美麗的公主陷入沉睡的故事傳遍全國，還流傳到了遙遠(yuǎn)的彼方。公主被大家稱為睡美人。
From time to time, many princes journeyed to the palace hoping to awaken Sleeping Beauty. But the thorn hedge grew so thickly that none of the princes could force his way through it.
不時會有王子來到皇宮想要喚醒公主，但是荊棘長得太茂密了，他們沒有一個能找到穿過荊棘的方法。
After many years, a very handsome prince visited the kingdom. An old man told this prince the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
多年以后，一位英俊的王子前來拜訪這個王國。一位老人告訴了他睡美人的傳說。
When the prince heard the old man’s tale, he said, “I must see this beautiful princess and try to awaken her.”
王子聽了老人所說的傳說后說：“我一定要見到這位美麗的公主，然后試著喚醒她?！?/span>
